  1. Start by washing the jars and lids in hot, soapy water. Rinse them thoroughly to remove any soap residue.

Vegan Homemade Fig Jam

Indulge in the Rich and Sweet Flavor of Homemade Vegan Fig Jam: A Delicious and Healthy Spread for Your Breakfast Toast!

  • 1 medium saucepan
  • 1 big wooden spoon
  • 1 Airtight, sterilized, jar Check the blog post for sterilizing instructions
  • 1 set of measuring cups and spoons


  • 3 cups fresh figs Around 12 figs
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 cm orange peel
  • 6 cm lemon peel
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice you can add 1 extra tablespoon if you prefer a more tangy taste.
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 1/8 tsp salt


  • In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped figs and sugar. Let it sit for 15 minutes so the sugar can soak the fig's moisture
  • After 15 minutes, add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well to combine.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the mixture has come to a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the figs have softened and the mixture has thickened.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the jam cool for a few minutes. Do the plate test mentioned above if you're not sure you got the consistency right.
  • Using an immersion blender or a food processor, puree the mixture until it reaches your desired consistency. If you prefer a chunkier jam, you can skip this step. We opted for a chunkier one.
  • Transfer the jam to a sterilized jar and let it cool completely.
  • Once the jam has cooled, you can store it in the refrigerator.
  • Once in sterilized jars, your jam should keep for about 6 months in a cool, dark place *


*Improperly sterilized jars can result in spoiled jams or even food poisoning. By proceeding with jam-making, you acknowledge that you have properly sterilized your jars and assume responsibility for the safety and quality of your product.
